How to adjust Pivot Pins
Ensuring correct Pivot Pin adjustment is crucial for optimal performance. The Pivot Pin should be fully seated into the bottom of the Pivot Pin Cup, exhibiting no side-to-side or up-and-down movement when twisting or pushing down on the truck, respectively.
Avoid running the Pivot Pin out too far, as it may exert unnecessary pressure on the Pivot Pin Cup, suspensions (cushions), and the King Pin, potentially altering the Angle of Action. Striking the right balance is key – a solid adjustment without over-tightening.
Once the Pivot Pin is correctly positioned, use a 6mm wrench to hold it in place. With a 13mm wrench, tighten the Pivot Pin Jam Nuts against the shoulder on the truck. Ensure this is done tightly while still holding the Pivot Pin in position with the 6mm wrench, as it may rotate during the tightening process.
The Pivot Pin is significantly harder and stronger than the aluminum truck's internal threads. If the Pivot Pin is allowed to be loose, it can damage the threads over time. Regular checks and adjustments, as recommended in the Roll-Line manual, are vital. If the threads become compromised, replacing the truck with the axle assembly is necessary.
The Pivot Pin and its proper adjustment are critical for the Roll-Line Skate's performance. Regular checks or maintenance by a qualified Skate Technician are advised.
